Are students required to live on-campus?

  • Housing is not mandatory, but offers students convenient and affordable living with a variety of services, events, and access to faculty and staff. Getting to class is easy when you live so close!

Who do I send my Residency Certificate to at GCC?

  • The Residency Certificate is required by the Student Accounts office. If you do NOT submit one, you will be charged DOUBLE TUITION! To learn more, visit the Student Accounts page.

Are guests allowed?

Residents are able to sign-in a guest who will be arriving or staying past Quiet Hours, at the Safety Office. Visit www.gccvillage.com/expectations to read the Housing Regulations for the full policy.

Are meal plans required?

  • As of Fall 2021, the college has mandated that all on-campus residents must have a meal plan.

When will I get my Housing Assignment and Roommate information?

Housing assignments and roommate info are sent to your GCC student email the after the first week of August for Fall and 1 week prior to the start of classes in January to residents who have met all move-in requirements

  1. Housing Contract complete
  2. Security deposit paid
  3. Cost of housing covered
    • Paid out of pocket OR
    • Accepted sufficient aid

Is there a curfew?

  • There is no curfew at College Village! Residents are welcome to come and go as they please, but are encouraged to respect Quiet Hours and Guest policy as posted on the Expectations page at www.gccvillage.com/expectations for your convenience.

What are Quiet Hours?

  • Residents are expected to observe Quiet Hours in order to establish a respect among residents for the studying and sleeping habits of others within an academic residential environment. They take place at the following times:
    • Weekdays: Sunday – Thursday 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM
    • Weekends: Friday – Saturday 11:59 PM – 8:00 AM
    • Final Exam Period: 24 Hour Quiet Hours during final exam periods
    • 24 Hour Courtesy Hours
      • Outside of quiet hours residents are expected to be respectful to the needs of others. If another resident approaches you and requests that you quiet down, please agree or move your activity to another location regardless of the time.

How safe is campus?

  • Along with the Residence Life staff, residents are supported by the CV 24/7 Safety team.
  • Only residents have access to their building, and room by an “access fob” they receive on move-in day.

What size bed will I have? May I loft my bed?

  • Our beds at all Twin XL and feature adjustable heights so loft equipment or substitutes are not needed. If you wish to change the height of your bed, just submit a Maintenance Request when you arrive and our team will follow-up with you ASAP.

May I decorate my room?

    • All items should be 2 feet from the ceiling, 10 feet from an exit path, and wall decorations cannot exceed 20% of total wall space. We are in the process of adding wooden wooden strips to each room to show how much of the wall can be covered, and allow students a space to tack or pin up personal items.
    • Removable sticky tack may be used provided it does not remove the paint. Duct Tape is not permitted.
    • Do not place decals or adhesive plaques on doors, walls, woodwork, or vinyl.
    • Multi-arm lamps with plastic shades are not allowed in the residence halls.
    • NOT PERMITTED: Extension chords, candles, incense, or cooking devices with an exposed heating element.
    • Power Strips: Due to the fire risk associated with inexpensive extension chords, please use power strips with a fuse or breaker that trips if overloaded, and be sure it is UL listed.
    • Personal furniture, curtains, draperies, hangings and other decorative materials suspended from walls or ceilings should be flame resistant in accordance with NYS Fire Code §F805.2 and NFPA 701 or be noncombustible. Tags must remain on the items.
    • All paths of egress should be kept clear of any clutter, shoes, etc.
